The Shenandoah Valley School District is a diminutive, rural public school district in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. It serves the municipalities of Shenandoah, Altamont, and West Mahanoy Township. The District encompasses approximately in two noncontiguous areas. According to 2000 federal census data, it serves a resident population of 11,790. The District employed: 95 teachers, 59 full-time and part-time support personnel, and 5 administrators. High school students may choose to attend Schuylkill Technology Centers for training in the construction and mechanical trades. The Business Manager is responsible for budget and financial operations. Neither of these officials are voting members of the School Board. The School Board enters into individual employment contracts for these positions.
